Simplicity has a system
Time pressure, cumbersome and elaborate waterproofing work, uneven surfaces, dirty material, lack of suitable tools, problems with insufficient coordination between the trades – the skilled tradesperson encounters a wide variety of challenges on the construction site, especially when it comes to installing drainage systems. Dallmer offers DallFlex linear drainage to make the work easier, faster and safer: a reliable and extremely installation-friendly system that has proven itself in practice many times over. The sanitary experts have now developed the new DallDrain system, a safe, flexible and easy-to-install system, one of the most modern on the market for point drainage, which is geared more than ever to the needs of the specialist tradesperson. DallDrain is a perfectly thought-out drain for all surfaces to be drained, and literally “gets to the point” with all the advantages of the proven DallFlex system.
Once the DallFlex system was launched, a number of fundamental features have already improved considerably since 2013. For the first time, it became possible to separate the linear drainage from the shower channel thanks to Dallmer’s innovative drainage system. Another innovation that has been developed is a click-in sealing sleeve that can easily be mounted to the surface as well as to the wall. The system has also made cleaning shower channels easier than ever before. The dirt is rinsed out of the completely removable odour trap without further ado, the odour trap is reinserted and the channel is wiped clean – done. Last but not least, DallFlex enables customers for the first time ever to mount different shower channels on a single platform. No fewer than nine shower channels can be combined with DallFlex, from the exclusive Select premium model to the budget-friendly Pure design variant – the system offers numerous stylish yet easy-to-install solutions for walls and surfaces, for almost every taste and every structural situation. Combined, these advantages have served to make Dallmer a leading innovator in the field of drain outlets and shower channels to this day – and open the door to a virtually infinite number of design options.
DallFlex advantages transferred to DallDrain
The practical click-in sealing sleeve, the removable, top-mounted odour trap and the flexible design are just a few of the advantages that make the DallFlex system the absolute standard in linear drainage. Dallmer has now also transferred these intelligent features to the new DallDrain system. “Based on the DallFlex system family, our modern DallDrain system for point drainage also features the click-in sealing sleeve, which is incorporated into the composite seal in accordance with DIN 18534,” explains Harry Bauermeister, Managing Director of Dallmer GmbH & Co. KG. “This makes work much easier for the tradesperson with no tedious ‘fiddling around’ on the construction site.” In addition, DallDrain, like DallFlex, is impressively flexible. With three drain bodies and 18 attachments, all of which can be freely combined, this floor drain serves almost every installation situation that can arise in new buildings, commercial construction or during modernisation. Retrofitting options, clear interfaces and a system concept make the installation of both systems as simple as possible for the tradesperson.
DallFlex and DallDrain: one system, two solutions
Other established features as well as many practical functions and details have been transferred from the popular DallFlex to the new DallDrain. “Our aim was to make the application of DallDrain almost the same for tradespersons who already work with DallFlex,” explains Harry Bauermeister. “That’s why we have created both systems in a modular system following the same principle, both in terms of composition and assembly.” A uniform colour and documentation scheme also makes them easy to navigate. “We are thus offering a uniformly designed system for both linear and point drainage,” says Harry Bauermeister. “What that means in practice is that anyone who can install DallFlex can also intuitively understand the DallDrain system and can get started straight away. There is no new system to get used to. This gives the tradesperson maximum peace of mind. It doesn’t get any simpler and safer than that.”
Secure, safe and clean: sealing with a “click”
One potential trouble spot when installing the drain body is that the drain and waterproofing must be connected according to DIN 18534. Work has to be particularly clean, safe and thorough here. This is usually labour-intensive and time-consuming. Cumbersome sealing work, a dusty flange that has to be cleaned after the casing has been installed, many loose individual parts lying around on the construction site, crumpled sealing sleeves – all this is a thing of the past with DallDrain. The tradesperson saves a lot of time and angst on the building site thanks to the click-in sealing sleeve, which is supplied separately as a wrinkle-free sealing fleece, neatly and in high-quality packaging. After the screed has been laid, the sealing collar simply has to be pressed or clicked into place. “This maximum simplicity in terms of craftsmanship and at the same time DIN-compliant bonded waterproofing with a click-on sleeve is therefore groundbreaking even in terms of current state of the art,” says Harry Bauermeister.
A smart move: retrofitting
Time pressure, the use of different trades, which makes coordination difficult, or other unfortunate circumstances can all combine to mean in some cases that drains are inadvertently installed in the wrong position. And once the screed has been laid, the only option is usually for a costly and time-consuming deconstruction. How practical would it be if the process could be adjusted later? Dallmer also closes this gap with the new DallDrain. The solution: the raising piece. This can be adjusted to any height and simply mounted on the already-installed drain with a backflow seal, ensuring precise height compensation. The factory-fitted sawing aid, through which the saw or the cutting disc are clearly guided, also reduces errors when cutting in.
Further details for easy assembly
As with the DallFlex system, the individually adjustable blue mounting feet of DallDrain ensure that the drain body can be quickly and securely fixed to the bare concrete ceiling. As well as giving simple and millimetre-precise height adjustment, the mounting feet also serve to reduce sound. You can easily achieve stipulations according to VDI 4100 and DIN 4109 using the sound insulation mat. The positioning aid supplied also helps to align the attachments perfectly and without errors. Last but not least, DallDrain offers a movable ball tip end for tension-free connection to the wastewater pipe. And what’s equally practical: Dallmer has pre-configured complete sets for the most common installations, which save a large amount of time when selecting products.
Fast and simple cleaning
Another practical feature benefits the end customer in particular: the odour trap is always located directly under the grating with DallDrain. “This is completely revolutionary and simplifies the cleaning of the drain many times over,” explains Harry Bauermeister. “Previously, the trap insert was located at different levels depending on the height of the floor inlet. As a result, cleaning was sometimes more time-consuming for the end user.” These times are now over. DallDrain always puts the odour trap within easy reach at the top. The attached bar makes it convenient and clean for the user to remove, clean and reinsert.
Flexible in appearance right to the end
The modular system already tried and tested with DallFlex and the wide range of variants within the system family mean that the customer can also decide during the construction phase which attachment the drain should get in the end. There are 18 different attachments to choose from: “Starting with the exclusive Select version with stainless steel frame, through the Individual version with tileable top section, to the budget-friendly Pure version with plastic frame – all variants fit on the already-installed drain body,” says Harry Bauermeister. In addition, DallDrain can even be used to create coloured highlights. From zinc yellow to ocean blue to black: the new ColourCollection gratings are available in 16 different colours giving every bathroom a very individual touch.
In short: we have thought of literally everything
Cleaner and faster work, preventing mistakes, saving any fuss, satisfied customers and partners: when it comes to drainage, the specialist tradesperson benefits in many ways with both DallFlex and DallDrain and the sophisticated pioneer system. “Both systems offer maximum safety on the construction site with many well-thought-out details – and thus set new standards for drainage in the house today,” says Harry Bauermeister. And that’s not all: Dallmer’s development department is continuously working on creating new future-looking products that will continue to shape drainage and will prove to be indispensable for users in practice.
“Our customers and their needs are also at the front of our mind in all developments,” says Harry Bauermeister. “For example, we are planning to transfer the system idea to new products and applications as well. At the same time, we are of course continuously exploring worthwhile extensions to existing products such as DallFlex and DallDrain so they can adapt and respond to market requirements as they change over time.” It’s clear then that we can look forward to even more innovative and practical solutions from Dallmer.
